Space Applications Services performs and supports system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the aerospace industry. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment. Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations CentreESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE is responsible forthe Payload and might have to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Being part of the Operations team, the general activities to be supported are Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Software Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support OnBoard Software Maintenance Support Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Spacecraft Performance Analysis Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 7 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Spacecraft subsystem knowledge. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations. Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Able to work independently. Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000. Some experience dealing with external interfaces. Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat. The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. The position is located on site at ESOC.
