We are currently looking for a Satellite Earth Station RF and Network Technician to support our customer in the United Kingdom. Satellite Earth Station RF and Network Technician Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a world leader in satellite data communications. It pioneered the use of high throughput satellites at the Kaband frequencies. Major organisations are now using its networks for cellular backhaul, IP trunking, complex government and enterprise networks and video services, as well as broadband. You will be responsible for the quality of work on the ground station of Goonhilly and Lands End, working as a Quality Supervisor to ensure that the work is carried out as expected, particularly Provide technical support in implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting existing equipment Resource and material acquisition Cabling RF and network Identify problems to be investigated if necessary Control project execution supporting equipment vendors Track and report progress Forecast future trends in the project Responsible for daily Earth Station operations and spares management Monitor the status and performance of Earth Station and the remote teleports Ensure reliability of equipment and services Ensure Gateway Payload Operations Centre GOC operational procedures are continually updated, followed, and implemented correctly Support the GOC Supervisor in producing reports on operational HYLAS activities Regularly update Redmine Tickets Ensure continued availability of Operational applications within GOC Adhere to strict Change Control Policy Authority to Work in place within GOC Ensure correct and accurate Operational Activity logging and fault reporting Operate and assist with any future development of the Siemens CMS application Maintain alarm monitoring Provide support for operations testing of all new software releases pertaining to applications within the GOC. Participate in the oncall rota to support out of office hours emergency support and routine maintenance. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Excellent organisational, management and team working skills Ability to work autonomously and independently Knowledge of Satellite technology and RF Transmissions Technical degree in telecommunications Knowledge of RF subsystems Experience of working directly with prime contractors and with the ability to discuss ideas and concepts with the prime contractor with authority Provide technical support for new equipment to be installed onsite Experience in installations, startups, troubleshooting and upgrade of equipment Fluency in English Good presentation and customer facing skills The ability to efficiently organise and coordinate the workload Proficient in all MS Office packages and knowledge of Microsoft Project.
