This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Satellite Platform Operations Engineer 1513020 Job Description We are looking for a Satellite Platform Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT for both routine operations and operations preparation of the MTP and the MSG satellite platforms with particular emphasis on all MTP subsystems and MSG Flight Software subsystem DHSS, and, in the longer term, for the operations preparation of the MTG satellites. You shall work in the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team and support the platform routine operations of the inorbit MSG satellites and the operations preparation for the platform subsystems of MSG4. At a later stage you will support the Operations Preparations of the MTG satellites. The tasks will be mainly carried out at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. You will be integrated in both the MTP and the MSG Spacecraft Operations Teams. The tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Support to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MTP and MSG spacecraft and to the commissioning of MSG4, taking the lead on coordinating MSG4 satellite specific spacecraft commissioning tests. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer SOE oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecrafts, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews e.g. eclipses, reconditioning, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute to the maintenance of Automated and Manual procedures, Operational database, Special operation instructions, Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Ops Guide etc for the preparation and the execution of System Validation Tests, commissioning and inorbit satellite operations Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Satellite Simulator maintenance support and provision of the necessary input to the simulator maintenance team Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participation to the activities related to the MTP and MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MTP and MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations. Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects. Support, as requested, the MTG satellite simulator development procurement followup and maintenance and provide the necessary input to the simulator team. Review technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Participation to the definition and execution of the MTG Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to MTG system commissioning. Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities. Required Skills and Experience Experience on other subsystems in order to be able to support on system level aspects, to assist in team coordination for the routine operations, and to provide the oncall function and the backup role for the SS assigned by the technical officer. a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, significant experience of spacecraft operations, including routine spacecraft operations with good knowledge of all subsystems . You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. You must be able to work effectively in english. Desirable Skills and Experience Operations preparation of a satellite project. Operations andor implementation of Flight Software Subsystem.
