This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Satellite Platform Operations Engineering Support 1413075 Job Description For our customer EUMETSAT, we are looking for an engineer to support both routine operations and operations preparation of the MSG platform, with special focus on Thermal Control Subsystem. In a longer term, the engineer will also support the operations preparation of the MTG satellites. The engineer will be integrated in the Operations and Services to Users Department as part of the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team. The tasks ail carried out mainly at EUMETSAT premises, although travel within Europe may be required for some activities. A summary of the tasks to be conducted can be found below Support to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecrafts and to the commissioning of MSG4. Support to the LEOP preparation and execution of the next GEO satellites. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer SOE oncall service. Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews e.g. eclipses, reconditioning, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc. Satellite Simulator maintenance support and provision of the necessary input to the simulator maintenance team. Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team. Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual. Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements. Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews. Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations. Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, Sound experience in spacecraft operations, in particular Routine spacecraft operations Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of Thermal Control Subsystem Analytical approach and attention to detail Ability to work calmly and correctly under stress with a minimum of supervision Fluency in English Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 29 September 2014 Start of Work 01 January 2015 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career.
