Are you interested to work on a Solar and Planetary Mission? Thorn Satellite Data Services is a service provider in the space sector in particular for the two Space Agencies in Darmstadt. We are recruiting for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our team at ESAESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The successful candidate will be assigned to one particular Solar and Planetary mission but will also support other missions. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Spacecraft Operation Engineer to work on the project, ExoMars Rover and Surface Platform. You will undertake tasks in the areas of Guidance, Navigation Control, Propulsion subsystems and Payload, and support the test and validation of the Ground Segment System. You will also have responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems. Tasks include Study of Project specific Characteristics Participation in the development of the Ground Segment Documentation System Requirements Document, System Test Plan Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Software Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities Participation in the Ground Segment system validation activities Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Service Spacecraft Performance Analysis With an in depth knowledge and experience in Ground Segment development andor improvement activities in support of flight operations and Spacecraft subsystem knowledge AOCSGNCPropulsion systems you should also have a background in spacecraft operations and have the ability to interact with other teams supporting the operations preparation. You must be able to work independently but also the ability to coordinate with other service providers in operations. Experience with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 and ground station control processes and setups would be advantageous. Knowledge and experience with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat, flight operations or spacecraft operations, MOIS and Ground station scheduling processes would be also an advantage.
