The stock market, under varying degrees of pressure on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, started the final session of that most recent five-day span nicely to the upside, especially the Dow Jones Industrial Average, as that 30-stock composite benefited from a much better-than-expected top-and bottom-line performance from iconic footwear giant NIKE, Inc. . That issue jumped more than 4% early on, establishing an all-time high above $110 a share in the process.
