Sugar industry unwilling to commence crushing on time

2014-10-15 08:13:00| Sugar Industry News

The country's sugar industry is unwilling to commence sugarcane crushing on time if the federal government continues to interfere in fixation of sugar prices far below sugarcane prices being fixed by the provincial governments, well informed sources in Ministry of Industries and Production told Business Recorder. Sugarcane crushing starts in November each year and provincial governments, in consultation with the federal government, notify and determine the minimum purchase price for sugarcane pursuant to Section 16 of the 1950 Act.
