Solenix is specialized in the provision of highquality software engineering, technical consulting and operations services in the aerospace domain. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Job Description We are looking for an experienced Flight Dynamics engineer to join a team which primarily supports the trajectory optimisation for Science Missions including interplanetary missions and missions in Lagrangian orbits. The primary support you will provide will be for EXOMARS RSP, Juice and Euclid launch preparation, LEOP support and operations. The general activities to be supported by the service are depending on the phase of the mission Trajectory optimisation Trajectory definition Analysis and implementation of trajectory targets and constraints Determination of optimum manoeuvre strategies Flight Dynamics Application Layer primarily in the trajectory optimisation domain Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer. Flight Dynamics System Development primarily in the trajectory optimisation domain Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms Design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and activities across subsystems Mandatory Requirements Minimum of 3 years experience University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics. Very good skills in linear algebra, in particular for problem solving related to geometry in the Euclidean 3dimensional space. Being familiar with different representations of rotation in 3D, thus including the representation of SC attitude cosine direction matrix, Euler symmetric parameters quaternions, Eulerangles, etc. Very good skills in calculus in one or several variables. Skills in numerical methods for equations solving integration of differential equations function approximation and interpolation optimisation linear algebra problems Very good skills in classical mechanics, including kinematics and dynamics of point masses dynamics of rigid bodies dynamics expressed in noninertial reference frames, e.g., including dynamics in rotating frames, rotation dynamics expressed in body fixed frame conservation laws in mechanics gravitational forces and field orbit dynamics, keplerian orbits and Kepler laws Ability to solve mechanics problems via analytical mechanics methods e.g., lagrangian formulation Skills to apply above knowledge to develop solutions to technical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts. Very good C programming skills and experience, in particular in objectoriented design and coding skills using C as main programming language. Knowledge of UnixLinux, and scripting languages. Experience in scripting languages, e.g., python, shell scripting languages Experience in Linux operating system Desirable Requirements Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks. Experience dealing with external interfaces. Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration.
