Whirlpool asks to withdraw proposed ban on drilling

Whirlpool Corp. has asked Fort Smith to withdraw an ordinance banning the drilling of water wells in a south Fort Smith neighborhood where the groundwater was contaminated with a hazardous chemical that leaked from the nearby Whirlpool plant.
