Xiaomi could overtake Apple in 2018 to become the world's second-largest smartphone maker, predicted Strategy Analytics late on Thursday, after the Chinese company put in a strong third-quarter performance. The company shipped 27.7 million handsets during the three months to 30 September, compared to 14.5 million a year earlier.
