We are looking to further enhance our team by Data Services System Architecture Engineering Support Archive Focus You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include As a member of the Data Services team, the key person shall provide system architecture engineering support primarily for maintenance and evolution but also for routine operations. The particular focus of this post is in the area of archive systems. In particular the tasks include in order of importance Maintenance performing unit and nonregression testing performing the acceptance and integration of externally developed software maintaining existing system and software documentation analysing system and software anomalies designing system and software correctionsenhancements providing advice and guidance with respect to maintenance issues Evolution supporting the generation and analysis of user requirements specifying system, software and tool requirements prototyping system, software and tool enhancements designing system, software and tool enhancements supporting the development of system, software and tool enhancements supporting the integration, verification and validation testing generating and maintaining technical documentation o system design and design justification documents o interface control documents o verification test plans, test cases and procedures o maintenance procedures participating in technical meetings and formal reviews Routine Operations performing configuration changes deploying new software releases supporting verification and validation testing providing secondline support providing oncall support providing training to the operations analysts and controllers In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall follow the relevant operations change management and maintenance procedures. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall have experience in the operations, maintenance and evolution of data services in a highlyavailable 247 environment. The key person shall have the following mandatory experience and skills with a minimum of 5 years for each System Engineering ExperienceSkills Analysis of legacy systems Requirements engineering Development of architectural evolutions HighAvailability systems Virtualisation Cloud computing Grid computing Distributed webbased applications Big data management Supporting internal and external users Exploiting industry support Software Engineering ExperienceSkills Software development andor maintenance using an objectoriented approach and following a formal life cycle, i.e. requirements captureanalysis, design, implementation, test and operations Configuration management and anomaly reportingtracking tools A practical knowledge of the following technologies and tools would be an advantage Technologies Serviceoriented system engineering Hierarchical storage management systems Longterm data preservation Spatial solutions Oracle Locator, PostgresPostgis Single signon OpenSSO, OpenDS, SAML2, LDAP Meteorological data formats JPEG2000, BUFR, GRIB, MSG MTPEPS native formats Scientific data formats HDF5, NetCDF OGC Standards CSW, WMS, WCS, WFS Standard file transfer protocols FTP, FTPS, SFTP Tools DOORS UML or SysML Enterprise Architect or CORE CORBA TAO Enterprise Service Bus Mule Groovy IDL Shell scripting languages bash, csh, perl Swing GWT Apache web server Tomcat application server Web Services Apache CXF, Axis2 J2EE JMX Oracle JDBC, SQL and PLSQL SAMfs XML, XML schema and XSLT technologies Altova XMLspy oXygen XML editor SubVersion Ant Maven JUnit Eclipse Furthermore, the key person must have excellent team working skills, be able to take initiative, work autonomously with a minimum of supervision, perform under high workloads and have good analytical and presentation skills.
