Avionics Engineering Support for ISS Columbus

For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for an Avionics Engineering Support for ISS Columbus. Tasks and Responsibilities The Contractor shall provide engineering support to ESA project manager for avionics aspects related to the Columbus infrastructure sustainability and evolution items as described below. This will include daytoday monitoring of the activities of the Industrial Contractors and review of technical documentation. The specific tasks will include Support the establishment of the baseline for new items, from requirements up to and including the end item definition and followon at Industry Specification level for the ISS Columbus module Monitor industrial activities for the procurementdevelopment and integration, test, verification of new or recurrent items in the area of onboard data management, data and video distribution including wireless, powerEMC, audio and RF communications for the ISS Columbus module Monitor avionics activities related to the Columbus system evolutions items, in particular with respect to the MPCC Service tasks and the Columbus Terminal activities Support the organisation and conduct of project reviews Support Engineering Control boards, MRBs, TRRPTRs, VCB in the avionics area Support the evaluation of Changes Requests, Waivers and PIRNs in the avionics area. Other duties within the post holders area of competence as may be required by the hierarchical superiors in support of their activities. Requirements In addition to having a University degree in Engineering and Physics, you should also bring at least 4 years of experience in the following A good knowledge of ISS Columbus avionics system and of the design and development of Human Spaceflight hardware A good knowledge of the design and development of Telecommunication items Ability to effectively work in a team environment with other ESA organisation like Columbus Operations Division, Telecommunications and Integrated Applications Directorate and to follow a proactive attitude to solving problems Knowledge of Avionics Engineering will be an asset. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the Human Spaceflight and Operations Directorate DHSO supporting the ISS. Overview The Contractor shall provide engineering support to ESA project manager for avionics aspects related to the Columbus infrastructure sustainability and evolution items as described below. Specific qualification requirements University Degree in Engineering or Physics A good knowledge of ISS Columbus avionics system and of the design and development of Human Spaceflight hardware A good knowledge of the design and development of Telecommunication items Ability to effectively work in a team environment with other ESA organisations like Columbus Operations Division, Telecommunications and Integrated Applications Directorate and to follow a proactive attitude to solving problems. Ability to work and communicate effectively in English. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed onsite at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
