Westar Energy prepares to give $38 million back to customers

Westar Energy collected $38 million too much for fuel costs last year, so the company will carve about $1.26 per month off bills this year, according to a filing with the Kansas Corporation Commission. The money for the customer rebates will come from the overcollection of Westar's Retail Energy Cost Adjustment rider, a charge that pays for fuel for Westar's generating plants.
