Software Engineer mfd for Satellite Ground Segment based at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt

We are seeking talented junior and experienced software engineers to further strengthen our team and help us deliver software services to our clients and partners, supporting both the routine operations of flying satellites and the development of complex new Ground Segment systems. In particular, we are seeking Ground Segment Software Engineers to work closely with one of our customer teams at EUMETSAT to provide onsite system maintenance and onsite user support for the Mission Operations Facility MOF of their Meteosat Third Generation satellites MTG. Aufgaben The position will be based in Darmstadt, working with our customer teams at EUMETSAT to provide onsite system maintenance and onsite user support for their Mission Operations Facility MOF. The MOF consists of all components necessary to command and control EUMETSATs next generation fleet of geostationary satellites. It provides functions for the preparation, planning and operation of the system, including satellite and mission operations and flight dynamics. In your role as a Software Engineer, you would undertake some or all of the following activities Provide onsite maintenance support for our software applications running in the MOF Investigate and troubleshoot raised anomalies in ground segment applications and devise solutions to complex problems Implement hotfixes to applications Work with both the EUMETSAT Operational environment for problem analysis and investigation and also with CGIs development environment for code changes, system build and test Provide integration support where necessary Provide onsite user support Work closely with flight control teams and understand their operational environments Carry out system validation and verification activities Qualifikation Those qualified for the role will be proactive, natural problem solvers and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Qualifications to be successful in this role include Familiarity with working in a Linux Environment Expertise in Java Expertise in Scripting e.g. bash, python, perl Experience in version control and ticket management tools e.g. Git and Jira Experience in continuous integration tools e.g. GitLab or Gerrit Experience with build services e.g. Jenkins Familiarity with ECSS standards e.g. PUS Familiarity with virtualisation e.g. ESXVCenter Knowledge of ground segment system architectures Some prior experience working with ground segment data systems or mission control systems Ability to work in a multivendor environment with contractors from different companies and client teams Good communication and team working skills Good problem solving capabilities and autonomous working attitude Fluency in English written spoken

Required knowledge Solid OO programming concepts is mandatory, ideally acquired using C. MSc in computer engineering or equivalent is highly desirable.
