Earth to get hotter despite global warming slowdown
2014-03-14 09:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Indo Asian News Service: The earth's climate would continue to warm during this century, on track with previous estimates despite the recent slowdown in the rate of global warming, a NASA study shows. Earth is likely to experience roughly 20 percent more warming than estimates that were largely based on surface temperature observations during the past 150 years. Global temperatures have increased at a rate of 0.22 Fahrenheit (0.12 Celsius) per decade since 1951. But since 1998, the rate of warming has been only 0.09 F...

The mystery of flight MH370: How can we track a smartphone anywhere on Earth, but a giant plane can go missing?
2014-03-10 14:34:05| Extremetech
Three days ago, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished from radar off the south coast of Vietnam in the South China Sea. 239 people were on board -- and at this point, it is presumed that they have all perished in some kind of disaster. For me, this is almost incomprehensible: Despite all of the awesome technology that mankind has developed, it's still possible for a Boeing 777-200 with 239 people on board to vanish. Surely, given the fact that we can track a damn smartphone anywhere on Earth down to a few meters, there's a better way of keeping track of missing aircraft?

Designed to verify reliable connection to earth for grounded electrical systems, Models 1623-2 and 1625-2 help minimize risk of shock to users. Units perform all 4 types of earth ground measurements, including 3- and 4-pole fall-of-potential, 4-pole soil resistivity, selective testing, and stakeless testing. Offering USB connectivity, testers can store up to 1,500 records with time stamp and download measurements. Accessories include heavy-duty stakes, color-coded wires, and rugged carrying case. Brian Cox's Wonders of Life Brings the Universe-Tromping Physicist Back to Earth
2014-03-05 14:00:00| TechNewsWorld
There are three elements that bring a great nature documentary to life: first, you need great video footage; second, you need to infuse the content with a sense of time, scope, and wonder; and third, you need a cool narrator. Brian Cox's Wonders of Life app delivers all three. I stumbled upon the app after Apple highlighted it as an Editor's Choice.
