Main responsibilities For training activities on behalf of ESA and EC, we are currently looking for a skilled junior Earth Observation Promotion Specialist. The position is for a Junior specialist in EO remote sensing with skills for communication andor training activities with EO data. The candidate will be in charge of contributing to raising awareness of Earth Observation products, tools and services amongst different user communities. This is done by outreach actions , training activities and daily support to RUS operations. For the Outreach actions, the staff will be responsible for the following tasks support the preparation and production of Earth Observation training material e.g. creating new content, editing presentations, webinars, video tutorials, etc. support the preparation and production of Earth Observation promotional material support the dissemination of the material in various format and via various communication channels. For the Training actions, the staff will be responsible for the following tasks support planning, setting and managing eg interfacing with third parties of training events providing assistance, as required, during training events handling, as needed, Webinars managing followup and reporting activities eg training feedback collection For the support to operations actions, the staff will be responsible to systematically check presence of RUS user requests, to analyse them, to interface users and distribute the received support requests to the other RUS team members. Knowledge of the Copernicus sentinel data community as well as knowledge of Sentinel ground segment recent deployments is an asset. The specialist will work in a team of experts Ideal candidate The successful applicant will hold a university degree in Physics, Remote Sensing or similar. Examples of teaching or communication experience are sought. The candidates will need to have a thorough understanding of Earth Observation satellite data and remote sensing. You would be required to work on a range of development projects andor services simultaneously, analysing time series of preprocessed radar or optical satellite imagery to derive new or improved thematic exploitation services. The role will focus on satellite data analysis and algorithm development for the improvement of innovative data applications and services in a range of market sectors such as air quality monitoring, disaster resilience including asset mapping, soil erosion modelling, landslide, forest fire, flood or drought monitoring, marine surveillance, or agriculture. You will be a key player in developing new products and services The projects youll be working with will be dealing with daily, global, data and data analytics. This role will require occasional travel, approx. 4 times a year throughout Europe.
