Summary A remote sensing graduate or PhD or equivalent experience with knowledge of satellite Earth Observation data systems and processing. Objective To contribute to operational and sciencebased services and system developments for national and international, based EO programmes. This role is for delivering a Spacecraft Operations Engineering service in the Copernicus family of Earth Observation missions. The service provider will be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including crossvalidation of procedures, test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Responsibilities Duties The general activities to be supported by this service are Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation Update of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Participation in the Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Routine and Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Spacecraft Performance Analysis Qualifications Experience University degree or equivalent education in Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. Essential Skills Spacecraft Flight Operations knowledge Earth Observation Payload Operations experience. Experience with Packet Utilisation Standard. Hands on familiarity with operational tools MCS, Simulator, DB browser, MOIS or equivalent tool. Experience in working in an operational environment. Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. Experience with anomaly investigations. Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP, special operations LEOP, Deorbiting campaign and operational phase routine Ability to work independently and with little supervision. Ability to work in an organised manner, with good reporting skills and reliable deadline meeting. Coordination skills with internal Flight Control Team, and external payload data centre, Satellite developer, simulator developer parties. Fluency in English. Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Familiarity with ground station control processes and setup Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with flight operations or spacecraft operations Familiarity with MOIS Familiarity with MUST Familiarity with Low Earth Orbit satellites Further Details Requirements A fulltime position requiring occasional travel within Europe twice per annum. The position is based at ESOC.
