One of our clients in Germany is looking a Software Development Engineer working in the frame of the MTG Meteosat Third Generation program, the nextgeneration European operational geostationary meteorological satellite system. This is a collaborative EUMETSATESA program a software simulator PDG for generating the measurement and auxiliary data from each major MTG instrument shall be established. The Payload Data Generator PDG is intended to support the EUMETSAT Ground Segment EUM GS development in particular the verification and validation of the Instrument Data Processing Facility IDPF. Beyond that further Software development activities are planned regarding MTG subsystem simulation and ground segment data processing of the postEPS ground segment. Task Descriptions Responsible for the Software Development of Payload Data Generator PDG. In particular you will be in charge of the analysis, coding and testing of algorithms described in textual form, andor by equations and with parameter data lists. Mainly simulating the impact of the overall MTG data acquisition chain encompassing the geometric, radiometric and spectral deformations, but also a few other types of processing like spatial resamplingremapping and data fusion functions which aim at adapting the sampling and map projection of external data to be prepared for the MTG instrument data generation. Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification of the PDG. Documentation Detailed Design, Test ProceduresReports, User Manual. Being able to use the Payload Data Generator PDG, e.g. for user support and training. Planning, preparation and conduction of the SW development for processing prototypes and operational processors for the postEPS ground software. Support to software development for MTG subsystem simulation. Required Profile Degree in aerospace engineering, space technology, electronic engineering, physics, computer sciences or comparable qualification. Approx. two or more years of experience in the domain. Knowledge of principles of typical Earth Observation instruments and spacecraft. Good image data processing skills. Good level of software development experience with the C and Python languages. Good knowledge of mathematics to be able to understand algorithms advantageous. Excellent conceptual analytical skills. Fluent written and spoken English.

What is Equitable for Planet Earth?
2015-05-19 16:22:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Huffington Post: Climate change does not respect national borders. No country, whether rich or poor, developed or developing, can escape the impact of climate change on its land and its people. Nations, like people, are bound to each other on this Earth, and the actions of one have consequences on the well-being of others. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are all interdependent. Clean air, clean water, and the rich soil that produces our food and fuel are essential to sustaining life on Earth. Nature's bounty,...
Earth Wins Time as Land & Seas Absorb More Carbon
2015-05-17 18:55:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Climate News Network: Half of all the carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels remain in the atmosphere. The good news is that only half remain in the atmosphere, while the rest have been taken up by the living world and then absorbed into the land, and the ocean. That is, as carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen, so also has the planets capacity to soak up atmospheric carbon. The implication is that what engineers call positive feedback-in which global warming triggers the release of yet more greenhouse...
New chapter in Earth history: Fallout from nuclear weapons tests marks dawn Anthropocene?
2015-05-11 17:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
ScienceDaily: An international group of scientists has proposed that fallout from hundreds of nuclear weapons tests in the late 1940s to early 1960s could be used to mark the dawn of a new geological age in Earth history -- the Anthropocene. The study, led by Dr Colin Waters of the British Geological Survey, published new research in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The research involved 10 members of the Anthropocene Working Group that is chaired by Professor Jan Zalasiewicz of the Department of Geology...
