Balch Conduit Support Sewer Replacement Project Update: February 4, 2016

Crews are almost finished installing the new sewer and manholes. There is still some work over the next couple of months to complete the project, including the final trench paving and street restoration. There has been some delay due to the weather, but crews are expected to finish by the end of March.

Sellwood-Moreland Sewer Rehab Project Construction Update: February 2, 2016

Environmental Services is repairing or replacing about 25,000 feet of public sewer pipes in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood that are between 80 and 100 years old and deteriorating due to age. This project will help protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of costly breaks, leaks, blockages and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.

Southwest Ventilation Project Update: January 29, 2016

An Environmental Services project to reduce sewer odors and increase capacity of the Southwest Parallel Interceptor sewer system is nearing completion. Since February, the contractor has installed 1,000 feet of 24-inch concrete pipe and six manholes along SW Taylors Ferry Road, and 800 feet of 48-inch concrete pipe and three manholes along SW Virginia Avenue. Construction is underway on a permanent odor control facility east of SW Taylors Ferry Road.

Communication Control Box Project Update: January 29, 2016

Environmental Services will begin construction soon on a project to modify and install communication control boxes (CCBs) in several locations throughout the city. These electrical panels are located throughout Portland to collect wastewater flow rates and other information needed to maintain the sewer system. CCBs can detect problems in the sewer system and alert Environmental Services staff to take corrective actions.
