Petron revenues up 13% to earns Php379.5 million in first nine months

Petron Corp. consolidated revenues reached Php379.5 billion in the first nine months this year, or 13 percent higher than the Php335.9 billion during the same period last year. Petron, in a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange , said that both its operations in the Philippines and Malaysia, brought in growth for the company, coming from all its major trades namely Retail, Industrial and Liquefied Petroleum Gas .

Nvidia Q3 revenues reach record USD 1.23 bln

(Telecompaper) Nvidia reported record revenues for its fiscal third quarter to 26 October, with the figure rising 16 percent from the year before to USD 1.23 billion. Record revenues were also reported for the year-to-date, up 15 percent to USD 3.43 billion. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang attributed the strong earnings to the company's focus on creating visual computing platforms for datacentre, mobile and PC. The gross margin went to 55.2 percent from 55.4 percent the year earlier while the net profit lifted 45 percent to USD 173 million. Nvidia intends to return USD 600 million to shareholders in fiscal 2016 through ongoing quarterly cash dividends and share repurchases. The company will pay its next quarterly cash dividend of USD 0.085 per share on 15 December. For the fourth quarter, the company is guiding for revenue of USD 1.20, plus or minus 2 percent, gross margin of 55.2 percent, plus or minus 50 basic points, and capex at USD 40-50 million.

Daum revenues up 20.7% in Q3

(Telecompaper) Internet portal Daum Communications reached over 37.2 million users of its KakaoTalk service in this year's third quarter. KakaoTalk monthly active users in Korea increased from 36.4 million in the second quarter of 2014 and 34.6 million in the third quarter of 2013. Global KakaoTalk monthly active users amounted to 48.4 million at the end of September 2014. Third-quarter combined revenues were up 20.7 percent year-on-year to KRW 221.8 billion, due to mobile and commerce revenue growth. Mobile revenue accounts for 47.9 percent of total revenues.
Lenovo Q2 revenues lifted by record smartphone shipments

(Telecompaper) Lenovo said revenues for its fiscal second quarter rose 7 percent from the year before to USD 10.5 billion. The operating profit lifted 24 percent to USD 329 million while the net profit advanced 19 percent to USD 262 million. Cash reserves at the end of the quarter amounted to USD 3.2 billion. The company said it sold a record 35.6 million smartphones, PCs and tablets in the quarter and that the PC market share went to 19.7 percent. Lenovo's laptop PC sales at USD 5.5 billion were the largest contributor to revenues worldwide (52%), taking the company market share to 21 percent. Lenovo's desktop PC shipments grew 6.4 percent worldwide, achieving a market share of 18 percent. The company shipped 3 million tablets, up 30.6 percent from the year before, driven by sales outside China. Smartphone shipments reached record levels, up 38 percent, driven by sales in more than 45 markets. The smartphone business remained robust in China but was stronger outside. India/Southeast Asia, Russia/EMEA emerging, and Latin America recorded unit growth of about 120 percent, 400 percent, and 150 percent, respectively. The business ended in fourth position at the end of the quarter but moved into third after the recent close of the Motorola investment.

Liberty Global posts Q3 net profit on revenues up 5%

(Telecompaper) Liberty Global reported third-quarter revenues up 5 percent year-on-year to USD 4.5 billion. Organic growth, excluding forex effects and a number of small acquisitions, was 3 percent, led by growth in Belgium and Germany. The cable group added 344,000 revenue-generating units in the three months on an organic basis, for a total 49.2 million at the end of September. The addition of 239,000 broadband customers and 151,000 telephony subscribers helped offset the loss of 46,000 TV customers. At the end of Q3, the group had 10.4 million triple-play customers, which exceeded the single-play customer base (10.1 million) for the first time. Quarterly operating cash flow rose 6 percent to USD 2.1 billion, and the net result turned to a profit of USD 157 million versus a loss of USD 830 million a year ago. Capital expenditure was down slightly to USD 908 million or 20 percent of revenue. Liberty also announced that it has completed the acquisition of Dutch cable operator Ziggo and will start integration of the company immediately. Helped by Ziggo's liquidity, the company also plans to resume its share repurchase programme and buy back USD 2.6 billion in shares over the next 14 months.
