Ebay revenues grow 14 percent in Q1

(Telecompaper) Ebay reported revenues up 14 percent to USD 3.75 billion and an enabled commerce volume up 19 percent to USD 48.8 billion in the first quarter, compared with the first quarter of 2012. Net profit rose 19 percent to USD 677 million. The company's PayPal operations saw revenues grow 18 percent to USD 1.5 billion in the quarter, with net total payment volumes up 21 percent to USD 41 billion, driven by merchant and consumer use both on and off eBay. The Marketplaces business increased revenue 13 percent to USD 2 billion as it gained 3.9 million active users in the quarter, reaching 116 million at the end of March.

Yahoo! revenues down 7% in Q1, net profit improves

(Telecompaper) Yahoo! reported first-quarter revenue down 7 percent from a year earlier to USD 1.14 billion. Display revenue fell 11 percent to USD 455 million, and search revenue was down 10 percent to USD 425 million. While paid clicks were up 16 percent from a year earlier, the price per click fell 7 percent. Total revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs was flat year-on-year, at USD 1.07 billion. The internet company reported adjusted EBITDA of USD 386 million, also unchanged compared to the same period of 2012. Net profit jumped 36 percent to USD 390 million, and EPS rose to USD 0.35 from USD 0.23 a year earlier. The group finished the quarter with USD 5.4 billion in cash. For the second quarter, Yahoo expects to report USD 1.06-1.09 billion of revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs, USD 350-370 million adjusted EBITDA and USD 190-210 million in non-GAAP operating income.

(Telecompaper) Russian national operator Rostelecom reported revenues up 7 percent to RUB 321.3 billion in 2012, led by growth in mobile and broadband services. OIBDA totaled RUB 118.6 billion, and the OIBDA margin was 36.9 percent, down by 0.6 percentage points. The broadband subscriber base totaled 9.2 million at year-end, up by 12 percent. Pay-TV subscribers grew by 12 percent to 6.6 million, and the IPTV subscriber base doubled to 1.4 million. Mobile subscribers totaled 13.6 million, up by 4 percent. The net profit was RUB 35.2 billion, and capital expenditure totaled 28.4 percent of revenues or RUB 91.2 billion.
