Verizon Q4 revenues up 3.2%, driven by hardware sales

(Telecompaper) Verizon reported earnings of USD 1.32 per share in the fourth quarter of 2015, compared to a loss of USD 0.54 per share in the fourth quarter of 2014. Total operating revenues rose by 3.2 percent to USD 34.25 billion, versus USD 33.19 billion to the year-earlier period. Verizon posted a USD 9.74 billion operating income in its latest quarter, after make a USD 2.14 billion operating loss a year earlier. Net income came in at USD 5.51 billion, compared to a year-earlier net loss of USD 2.15 billion.

ZTE revenues up 24% to over CNY 100 bln in 2015

(Telecompaper) ZTE reported net profit for 2015 up 43.5 percent to CNY 3.78 billion. Revenues increased 23.8 percent to top CNY 100 billion for the first time, and operating profit jumped to CNY 1.04 billion from CNY 60.3 million a year earlier, according to the company's preliminary report. ZTE attributed the strong growth to sales of LTE network equipment, both abroad and at home in China, as well as sales of optical network equipment, high-end routers, enterprise ICT equipment and 4G smartphones. The company said it also improved its debt ratios, reduced interest expenses and increased cash flow in the past year. ZTE will release a full annual report 23 March.
HTC revenues fall 35% in 2015

(Telecompaper) HTC reported revenues for 2015 down 35.2 percent to TWD 121.7 billion. The smartphone maker had a difficult last month of the year, with sales in December down 57.1 percent year-on-year and 36.6 percent lower than in November, at TWD 6.5 billion. The figures are preliminary. HTC will report full annual results later.

Canadian railways penalized for excess grain revenues

Dec 29 The Canadian government said on Tuesday that it has fined the country's two big railways, Canadian National Railway Co and Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd, for earning too much revenue from hauling western grain during the 2014/15 crop marketing year. Ottawa implemented the grain revenue cap in 2000 after it eliminated a subsidy for grain movement by rail called the Crow Rate.
