000 ABPZ20 KNHC 071719 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Tue Jul 7 2020 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Cristina, located several hundred miles south-southeast of Manzanillo, Mexico. An elongated area of low pressure located about 1000 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days while it drifts generally northward. By late this week, environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for further development. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent. An area of low pressure is forecast to form south of the Gulf of Tehuantepec late this week. Environmental conditions are conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression is likely to form within the next day or so while the system moves west-northwestward, well south of the coast of southern Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent. Showers and thunderstorms associated with an elongated area of low pressure located several hundred miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula have become limited.
