For our activities in the European Space Agency, we are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Planning Officer to work in an exciting innovative international environment The role will be part of a newly established Network Operations Centre NOC tasked with coordinating, configuring and monitoring activities related to the ESA ground segment, specifically the Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC stations of the ESTRACK ground station network. The NOC is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support to the ESA space missions and its users. It provides Ground Operations, Operational IT and Operational Control Centre services and acts as single point of contact for realtime service requests from ESTRACK customers. The planning team is responsible for the schedule of all operational activities including ground station usage and other activities affecting operations at ESOC. The primary responsibilities of this role will be Main responsibilities The main tasks of the Planning Officer will be Supervise the Scheduling office, responsible for Routine planning and automation Replanning Load capacity analysis Compile support requirements Manage support requests to third parties Realtime scheduling changes Maintain planning procedures and documentation Maintain planning tool configuration and support the evolution and deployment of new versions Maintain the scheduling website Setup and run load analysis Reporting Incident handling Support of LEOP launch and early orbit activities Support the management of the operational services Providing training for junior team members Act as an interface to the customer. Ideal candidate Applicants require a University or similar degree in engineering or similar applicable discipline or related extensive work experience. You will require good professional experience in endtoend ground station systems required for spacecraft operations. Specific Requirements You will possess the following qualities Solid experience with planning and scheduling in an operational environment Solid experience in endtoend ground station systems for spacecraft operations Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Proactive and confident personality with good persuasive skills Teamplayer, able to interface with technical and management personnel Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several tasks in parallel Able to work on shifts occasionally Solid IT knowledge, including Linux, networking concepts and common tools and software applications Service mentality and solid understanding of a KPI driven service environment Able to write and present documentation, procedures and training materialpresentations Experience in coordination and supervision of teams PC literacy MS Office Products, Lotus Notes. Objective To undertake market research supporting the Telecommunications and Integrated Applications Domain within the Markets Partnership Office. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but will not be limited to Analyse economic market potential and perform business intelligence investigations in the market sectors of relevance to TIA Assess the impact that technology trends Data analytics, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, automated transport have in the market and the derived opportunities for spacebased business applications Assess market opportunities of proposed and ongoing projects and propose measures to strengthen them Identify trends and opportunities for new applicationsservices arising by the technical and business developments in the space sector Define strategies to approach and establish presence new markets and measures to support ARTES Industry in seizing those opportunities Characterize the stakeholders context and identification of partnerships opportunities Use Customer Relationship Management tools CRM to maintain a database of relations with TIAA current and potential partners Identify highlevel requirement for possible future business applications activities Undertake outreach activities for establishing contacts with users communities, Industry fora, and relevant stakeholders 20 Short duration European missions 2 days per trip during the duration of 22 months 6 Medium duration European missions to ESTEC 1 week per trip during of 22 months Qualifications Experience Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or economicbusiness studies Significant experience in market research and business intelligence, preferably applied to some of the market sectors of relevance to space based applications Sound knowledge of the overall space applications market, including the main space actors technology suppliers, satellite operators, service providers Familiarity with the underlying space technologies i.e. satellite communications, navigation and earth observation Excellent communication and presentation skills High standard of document drafting Ability to work effectively both within a small team and in an autonomous way Knowledge of ESA and in particular of TIA space applications programmes Experience in managing space applications activities is desirable . Qualities Willing to travel to ESA establishments andor other European locations Comfortable in an international working environment Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
