Euskaltel valued at EUR 1.1-1.4 bln in IPO

(Telecompaper) Spanish regional cable operator Euskaltel, operating in the Basque Country, has set a price range of EUR 8.70 to EUR 11.05 per share for the forthcoming IPO of a maximum 69.9 percent of its share capital, valuing the company at around EUR 1.1 billion to 1.4 billion. Spain's market regulator CNMV has approved the accompanying prospectus and, if all goes to plan, Euskaltel shares should start trading on the Madrid stock exchange on 01 July.
German spectrum auction raises over EUR 5 billion

(Telecompaper) The German multi-band spectrum auction has concluded after 16 days of bidding with total proceeds of EUR 5.081 billion, the Bundesnetzagentur announced. Vodafone Germany spent the most, at EUR 2.09 billion, followed by Deutsche Telekom with total bids of EUR 1.97 billion and Telefonica Deutschland at EUR 1.20 billion. Each operator obtained 2x10 MHz in the 700 MHz, with prices driven up the last days of bidding by Vodafone. In the 900 MHz band, Vodafone and O2 each obtained two blocks of 2x5MHz, while Deutsche Telekom gained three blocks. Vodafone took the most spectrum in the 1,800 MHz band, at 2x25 MHz, while T-Mobile took 2x15 MHz and O2 2x10 MHz. The unpaird spectrum in the 1,500 MHz band was split between Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom, with each acquiring 20 MHz. The blocks in the 1,800 MHz band attracted the highest price, at bid of EUR 237.5-258.2 million per block of 2x5 MHz. The 900 MHz band sold for EUR 180.5-211.8 million per block, and the newly released 700 MHz band cost EUR 165.5-171.6 million per block, around double the reserve price of EUR 75 million.

Telecom Italia raises EUR 780 mln from Inwit IPO

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia has announced that the IPO of a 40 percent stake in its tower unit INWIT has successfully closed and will debut on the Milan stock exchange on 22 June. The company priced the shares at EUR 3.65, bringing the total proceeds to EUR 875.3 million if the greenshoe option is fully exercised. After commissions and fees, the net proceeds to the company will be EUR 779.8 million, or EUR 857.8 million if the greenshoe is exercised.
EC to invest EUR 25 mln in LatAm-Europe undersea cable

(Telecompaper) The European Commission has announced its support for a new submarine fibre-optic cable between Europe and Latin America, linking Lisbon (Portugal) with Fortaleza (Brazil). The project is being built by a consortium led by Brazilian state-owned telecoms infrastructure provider Telebras and Spanish cable operator IslaLink and should be operational at the end of 2017. The EC said the European research network Dante and its Latin American equivalent RedCLARA have put forward a project proposal dubbed BELLA (Building Europe Link to Latin America) to take advantage of the new cable and that its financial contribution would be in the region of EUR 25 million.
German spectrum auction yield passes EUR 3 billion

(Telecompaper) The German multi spectrum auction has past EUR 3 billion in bids on 11 June of this year during 106th round of bidding, according information posted to the website of German network regulator BNA after each round. At the end of day nine of the auction with a total of 109 rounds of bidding the yield reaches EUR 3.079 billion. Telekom Deutschland has bid EUR 1.154 billion, Vodafone Germany has made bids with a value of EUR 1.089 billion and Telefonica Germany has bid EUR 836 million. Bidding for 1800 MHz spectrum and 1500 MHz spectrum has been continuous while bidding for 700 MHz spectrum stopped after the first round with all operators bidding for 2 blocks of 2x5 MHz.
