NTSB Training Center offers accident site photography course.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced Accident Site Photography Course, which will be held October 19–21, 2015 in Ashburn, VA. Program includes overview of photographic procedures and techniques regarding transportation accident investigation documentation. Topics will cover digital imaging principles, advanced accident site photography, and digital image processing. Also, students will be able to practice skills they learn through hands-on wreckage documentation exercise.

NTSB offers new course on mass casualty incidents.

On October 14-15, NTSB will offer course for emergency managers, law enforcement, hospitals, and medicolegal community focused on managing victim accounting process following transportation-related mass casualty incidents. Course will examine core principles for managing transition from first response and life safety operations to victim accounting. It will focus on need for agencies to understand roles and responsibilities of various entities involved in victim accounting operations.

NTSB Forum to examine loss-of-control crashes.

NTSB will hold one-day forum to examine problem of loss-of-control crashes in general aviation fixed-wing aircraft, and explore possible solutions. "Humans and Hardware: Preventing Inflight Loss of Control in General Aviation," will be held on October 14, 2015. Topics will include: overview of various types of loss of control accidents, human performance and medical issues, potential training improvements, and technological enhancements that can reduce loss of control accidents.

NTSB Points to Flight Crew Errors as cause of business jet crash.

NTSB concluded pilots of crashed Gulfstream G-IV business jet bound for Atlantic City on May 31, 2014 failed to perform flight control check before takeoff and attempted to take off while critical flight controls were locked because gust lock was engaged. Finally, these pilots delayed rejecting takeoff after they became aware of locked flight controls. NTSB's Bella Dinh-Zarr pointed to this as example of "importance of following standard operating procedures and...procedural compliance."
