NTSB Releases Study to optimize gas pipeline integrity management.
2015-03-06 14:31:08| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
NTSB adopted safety study on integrity management of gas transmission pipelines in high-consequence areas. In said study, NTSB analyzed information from Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's (PHMSA) data systems and other sources. Recommendations address broadened use of in-line inspection, emphasize closer state-to-state and federal-state cooperation among inspectors, and call for expanded and improved resources and guidance at federal level.

USGS begins crucial study in Hinkley to determine how much chromium-6 was natural
2015-03-06 11:14:35| Energy - Topix.net
HINKLEY >> By the side of a washboard-rough dirt road, in a garage piled high with rocks neatly stored in pizza-sized boxes, the long-awaited study has begun to determine how much of the world's largest chromium-6 plume is the result of a San Francisco-based utility's operations and how much was put there by nature. The findings of this pioneering scientific effort that will span five years could add or subtract multiple millions of dollars from the ultimate environmental cleanup cost in this High Desert community.

Suicide by suffocation increasing among US youths, study says
2015-03-06 07:59:54| Biotech - Topix.net
Deaths by those means rose every year from 1994 to 2012 among females and males aged 10 to 24 year olds, for reasons that remain unclear, according to a report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . Unlike suicide attempts that involve poisoning, suffocation and hanging are much more likely to result in death, the researchers noted.
