From our offices in Darmstadt, Germany, we support supports and manage a growing team of multidisciplined Space professionals. We are constantly looking to grow and develop the team and have many opportunities for candidates looking to further their careers or experience within this business. We are particularly interested in speaking to ambitious individuals, committed to learning and developing their skills in a highly technical environment. Typical tasks and responsibilities for this position will include To prepare customised MTG information documentation for interaction with African expert users RAIGED To interact with African experts users in order to determine needs and priorities in terms of MTG applications and transition approach from MSG to MTG To interact with Eumetsat experts enabling a preliminary high level assessment of the technical and financial implications of the user needs and priorities, along with the indepth analysis of other elements such as Data needs and characteristics inc, possible subsettings, relaxed timeliness requirements, etc Data access dissemination aspects and reception capacities Capacity building at user level reception station, data processing and interpretation capabilities, transition approach from MSG to MTG Training programme To prepare inputs for some followon activities, that could be partially implemented via external funding. The successful candidate will have A background in meteorological applications aviation, oceanography, numerical weather perdition, etc A background in satellite meteorological application inc sounding and multispectral A knowledge of Africa meteorological user community and infrastructure A knowledge of MSG applications in Africa An engineering background e.g. SW, electronic, telecommunication or space, etc A background in data management, and IT telecommunication A knowledge on Earth observation related user technologies All applicants will ideally have 10 years experience in the areas mentioned above. Candidates must have a good working knowledge of the English language and a basic understanding of French. Thorn SDS is an AUG registered business so we can represent any consultants currently acting independently and who may now be looking to secure their future through an employment contract with a registered business. Thorn offers a complete bespoke relocation support package for any Successful European candidates living outside of Germany.
