Enterprise and business customers on Verizon's Private Network can now better manage the application traffic that flows to and from their mobile devices, with a new subscription service announced by the carrier this week. Private Network Traffic Management over 4G LTE allows users to assign different classes of service to different wireless applications , giving something as time-critical as voice and video right of way over something as latency-tolerant as email or file transfer.

Verizon, Qualcomm set to supply controversial unlicensed LTE starting next year

Verizon and Qualcomm are on track to extend LTE networks into Wi-Fi frequencies by the end of next year despite a heated controversy over whether that would slow down wireless LANs. Verizon will start field trials of LTE-Unlicensed in October, aiming for a commercial launch next year, executives said during a briefing at the company's Innovation Center in San Francisco on Friday.

Verizon says CWA created a false impression of the state of its copper network

Verizon has fired back at the Communications Workers of America's claims that it has turned its back on its existing copper networks in its wireline region. In an FCC filing, Verizon said that the CWA misinterpreted a statement it made in a July letter to the FCC about how much it invests on its copper network.
