Your Tasks Include This is a position for an Instrument Calibration and Verification Engineer in the EarthCare Project Division. The tasks describe work to be undertaken during the EarthCARE Phase CD activity. The work will be executed by a suitably qualified payload instrument engineer, with tasks being applicable to all EarthCARE Optical Instruments ATLID, MSI, and BBR and shall comprise Provide support for the review of proposed verification activities at unit, instrument and system level making corrective inputs as required Provide support for the review of proposed inflight and onground calibration and characterization activities making corrective inputs as required Provide support for the review of the Instrument specific elements of Ground Support Equipment design and implementation Participating to test preparation and execution reviews, witnessing of qualification acceptance tests and technical assessment of test results with participation to NRBs in case of anomalies Provide support for the instruments delivery, operations, integration and test at satellite level Case by case support to other spacecraft verification areas as required. Your Profile The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and experience University degree MastersPhD in Engineering At least 4 years of space projects experience relevant to the Task Description, in particular in instrument verification, electronics, instrument control and operations Familiarity with instrument testing and instrument GSE specification and design Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule Good communication skills also regarding written reporting Proficient in the English language spoken and written. Job description Develop and design communication satellite digital payload architectures per customers end needs. Perform payload system budgets, flow down requirements and specify RF and digital transponder equipment. Establish contractual compliance through onground and inorbit spacecraft testing. Work includes proposal and program efforts, front end design, detailed analyses and development, digital channelizer and on board processing design specification, evaluation of Payload throughput and link budgets for multibeam systems, integration and testing of the end product. Job Responsibilities The IntermediateSenior Communication Systems Engineer is responsible for design, analysis, implementation, optimization and enhancement of endtoend communication digital payload systems andor subsystem elements related to the system architecture. Lead technical projects and endtoend communications systems engineering activities using digital transponder providing bandwidth flexibility, network connectivity and channel aggregation. Determine and develop optimum design solutions of satellite communication payloads from conventional RF bent pipe payload to digital on board processing payloads. Generate system requirements and subsystem specifications for RF and digital equipment including the following o Digital channel processor specifications, o High capacity multiple spot beam systems, o Flexible payload including MultiPort Amplifier, o Unit to spacecraft level test requirements. Ability to negotiate technical contract with customer andor suppliers. Perform requirement analysis and system trade studies. Perform link budget calculation and evaluate satellite throughput. Generate and supervise methods, standards, plans, and procedures for systems engineering tools and systems tests for payload with digital channel processing. Support or conduct design reviews. Demonstrate strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently. Excellent oral and written communications skills. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in payload systems engineering or equivalent for items described above, including as a minimum experience in digital channel processing. The possibility of working onsite at our Canadian or UK office, or working remotely.
