We are looking for a Mechanisms Engineer to support the Mechanisms Section, in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality TEC. Overview Mechanisms support to all ESA project directorates with respect to the implementation of space mechanism technologies in current and future missions, including configuration assessments and mission performance evaluation. Establishment of Statement of Work and Preliminary Requirement Specifications for Mechanism Systems, Individual Mechanisms or Mechanism components dedicated to Technology and Research Development. Perform and support in the role of Mechanism engineer, System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans. Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technologies for future ESA missions. Support investigations of mechanisms being out of performance, including malfunctions and contingency scenarios. Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the Space Mechanisms ECSS Engineering Standards. Generation and setup of appropriate space mechanisms analysis and simulation models using analysis tools based on technical documentation of space mechanisms. Back up and archiving of analysis models for later retrieval. Specific qualification requirements A Master degree or Phd in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Space mechanisms development. Excellent knowledge in space system engineering, specializing in mechanisms. Knowledge of the Space Mechanism ECSS standard and its application to the design and verification of mechanisms. Good knowledge of space mechanism testing and verification methodologies and techniques and a good knowledge of related mechanisms numerical analysis tools such as Adams, VirtualLab Motion , SIMPACK, MatlabSimulink, Maxwell, Flux etc. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Support company technology innovation choices in the field of ILS and operations. Support ongoing projects in the field of ILS execution. Support the evolution of existing products in the ILS domain. REQUIREMENTS A Masters Degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering or any equivalent degree. At least 4 years of experience in the ILS domain, in the analysis, design or execution of systems maintenance and operations. Background in systems engineering, ability to understand and critically assess systems requirements and architecture. Knowledge of MBSE is an asset. Ability to use systems analysis tools. Familiarity with space systems, previous experience is an asset. Interest in new technologies applied to ILS, Working level knowledge of English.
