The Challenge We are looking for software engineer to contribute to a suite of for experimental astronomical software. The successful candidate will support the activities of Termas longterm customer, an international scientific institution based in Munich. The software supports the early stages of the astronomical data life cycle from application handling, to resource scheduling and operation, to data collection, archiving, processing and to distribution. The software engineer will be given responsibility for major components of the data flow, contributing to the entire software lifecycle from requirements analysis to design, coding, testing, deployment, maintenance and documentation. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in July 2014. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have an university degree, preferably in computer science, physics, electrical engineering or other suitable qualification together with at least 3 years experience developing datacentric, Javabased applications. Essential skills are Excellent knowledge of Java Programming Good knowledge of SQL query design performance optimisation Good knowledge of CC programming Basic knowledge of Python programming Solid background in Java web programming using servlet containers such as Tomcat, including clientside programming using xHTML, CSS and Javascript Indepth experience in interfacing Java applications to databases using object relational mappers such as Hibernate Significant experience with the Spring framework and the dependency injection paradigm Very good knowledge of Swingbased GUI programming Significant experience with unit test automation Fluency in English, both in speech and writing is mandatory. Desirable skills are Good knowledge of Grails framework for web development, Groovy and the angular.js Javascript framework Significant experience with the Linux command line and multithreaded programming Experience with the full software lifecycle and associated software quality assurance provisions Experience with software for processing of large volumes of scientific data. The Challenge We are looking for software test engineer to support software maintenance and extension, regression testing, software integration, releases preparation and verification and validation of software products. The successful candidate will support the activities of Termas longterm customer, an international astronomical institute based in Munich. Typical tasks include Testing data flow applications databasedriven Java web and desktop GUI applications, command line tools, distributed applications according to established quality assurance standards. This task includes analysing and capturing user requirements, producing and automating test cases, plans and reports. Platforms used Windows, Linux and MacOS Analysing test results and investigating anomalies Maintaining automated test suites Testing telescope application software Maintaining and upgrading an inhouse developed automatic inspection tool written in Perl Analysing test results and collaborating with developers in investigating anomalies Contributing to establishing and implementing testing standards across projects environment, procedures, tools and documentation. Liberty Global organic sales, cash flow up 2% in Q4

(Telecompaper) Liberty Global reported fourth-quarter revenues up 71 percent from a year earlier to USD 4.5 billion, driven by its takeover of UK cable operator Virgin Media. Excluding acquisitions and currency effects, revenues rose 2 percent, with a 4 percent increase in Western Europe, 7 percent growth in Chile and flat sales in CEE. Among its largest markets, Germany grew 7 percent, Belgium was up 10 percent, Switzerland advanced 4 percent, and the UK expanded 1 percent, while the Netherlands contracted by 2 percent. Operating cash flow rose 65 percent to USD 2.1 billion, or 2 percent on an organic basis, while the company's net loss narrowed to USD 121 million in Q4, from USD 331 million a year earlier. Liberty said it expects growth in organic OCF to accelerate in 2014. Adjusted free cash flow, which excludes the cost of its mobile operation in Chile, should also improve, to around USD 2.0 billion from USD 1.8 billion in 2013. Capital expenditure rose to USD 2.5 billion in 2013 from USD 1.9 billion a year earlier, due mainly to the takeover of Virgin Media. Liberty ended the year with debt of USD 44.7 billion and cash of USD 2.7 billion, putting its net leverage at 4.9x.
