For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Mission Analyst Engineer. The primary areas of responsibility for this service is Mission Analysis but you may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional service, missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering. Activities are primarily related to the asteroid mission HERA to 65803Didymos but may also be requested related to other Lunar Missions or other tasks in the Flight Dynamics domain. Responsibilities The general activities to be supported are depending on the phase of the mission Mission Analysis Trajectory Optimisation for interplanetary transfer and the nearasteroid phase Navigation and Guidance, including Optical Navigation for Mission Analysis Concurrent Design Studies for space missions Mission Analysis Tools Development, environmental models, numerical integration techniques, local and global optimisation techniques and algorithms Support to project, scientists and industry, participation in reviews General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date as soon as possible but not later than 1st December 2020. Approx. 400 hours per year of oncall and 1 European mission per year are foreseen. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics, you shall have covered until now as many topics as follows Essential skills are Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts. Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Will to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently. Desirable skills are Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision.
