Sun Life Financial and BCE partner up in employee pension agreement

Sun Life Financial has signed a deal with BCE Inc. to help offset the risk to the telecommunication company's pension plan if retirees live longer than expected. Under the deal, the Bell Canada Pension Plan will pay monthly premiums to Sun Life and the insurer will make monthly pension payments into the plan for the lifetime of existing pensioners.

BCE (TSX, NYSE: BCE) has reported BCE and Bell Q4 and 2014 results. In Q4 2014, BCE (Bell Canada and Bell Aliant) added 42,190 TV subscribers. At the end of 2014, BCE served a total of 2,642,608 TV subscribers.

Canada's BCE has announced plans to sell half of its ownership stake in wireless retailer Glentel to Rogers Communications, following the closing of Bell's acquisition of Glentel, expected in the first half of 2015. Under the agreement, Bell and Rogers will each own half of Glentel's retail operations.
