Linn Energy LLC said Friday that it will cut its payouts to shareholders by more than half as the oil and natural-gas producer slashes capital spending to weather lower oil prices. State officials say Nevada's taxable sales rose nearly 5 percent in October compared with the same month a year ago, largely thanks to more spending at restaurants and car dealerships. The Nevada Department of Taxation reported Monday that taxable sales totaled $4.1 billion.
