000 ABNT20 KNHC 302324 TWOAT Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 PM EDT Sat Sep 30 2017 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The National Hurricane Center has issued its last advisory on Post-Tropical Cyclone Maria, located several hundred miles east-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland. Surface observations and coastal radar data indicate that an area of low pressure has developed near the northeastern coast of the Florida Peninsula between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, and that winds to near gale-force are occurring to the north of the center. Additional development into a tropical cyclone appears unlikely due to unfavorable upper-level winds. However, gusty winds and locally heavy rains are likely over portions of northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia tonight and Sunday. A trough of low pressure extends from the Yucatan peninsula northeastward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico to a weak low over north Florida. This system, in combination with an upper-level low over the Gulf of Mexico, is triggering widespread cloudiness and showers over the northwestern Caribbean and the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Environmental conditions are not conducive for development and tropical cyclone formation is not anticipated. A weak low pressure area over the southern Florida Peninsula is interacting with an upper-level low to produce a large but disorganized area of cloudiness and showers extending from the northwestern Caribbean Sea northward through the Florida peninsula. Environmental conditions appear to be marginally conducive for some additional development before the upper-level winds become unfavorable early next week. Regardless of development, this system is likely to produce locally heavy rainfall over portions of western Cuba, the Florida Keys, and the Florida peninsula during the next several days while the system moves northwestward to northward. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
