ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Power Thermal Section of the Satellite Engineering Department is responsible for the satellite power and thermal subsystems across the growing SES fleet of GEO and MEO satellites. In this role, you become part of the US and European based team, that provides engineering and oncall support to the satellite operations control centers, develops tools for inorbit operations, analyzes satellite data, and supports the design, construction, test and deployment of new SES satellites. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Provide electrical Power Thermal expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellites, including 247 oncall support as part of the team Proactively monitor the electrical Power Thermal subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action. Develop and maintain tools for evaluating and trending health to maximize satellite safety, availability and longevity Provide support to new satellite construction programs, orbit raising operations, and development of the ground products required for satellite operations Interface with internal and external parties in relation to the responsibilities of the subsystems, such as external Satellite Manufacturers and internal Fleet Development teams Contribute to a continuous effort to more effectively and efficiently manage the satellite inorbit operations, including processes, procedures, monitoring, and data analysis improvements. Level 1 Mission Performance Chain Engineer

Position Reference 867 On behalf of ESA, we are currently looking for a Level 1 Mission Performance Chain Engineer to work in its Site ESTEC in the city of Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The key person will provide support to Earth Observation Projects CHIME and LSTM in the domain of Endtoend E2E Mission Performance covering both mainly software aspects. The E2E performance chain comprises several components scene generator, instrument simulator, instrument data processors. The Level 1 Mission Performance Chain Engineer will work integrated in the relevant Project Teams and will report to the System Manager or equivalent role within the Project. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Operate an up to date copy of E2E software components in ESTEC to perform specific runs in order to checkrepeat verification and validation procedures provided by industries, and ensure proper methods are implemented. Extend the test plan of industry to make sensitivity analysis or execute specific test requested by Projects in order to monitor instrument performance and to analyse impacts on the mission performance resulting from deviations during the development programme. Support reviews of the E2E software components and participate to project meetings. Supporting Test Data production and verification. Supporting the analysis of the data collected during onground and inorbit calibration and characterisation campaigns. Developing any needed software tool to support all the mentioned activities. Providing necessary inputs for the relevant internal and external meetings. Detecting SW anomalies to be reported to SW developer for analysis. Ensuring that the E2E Mission Performance Simulator chain and its components and algorithms meet the required functionality and performance, taking into account system, instrument, geophysical model and calibrationvalidation facility aspects. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters degree in Physics or Engineering or equivalent qualification. A Masters degree in Computer Science could be accepted if relevant experience with Earth Observation algorithms is demonstrated. At least 4 years of relevant working experience. A firsthand experience and proficiency in the development of numerical modelling software preferably using compiled languages CCJava, development environments and using the Unix operating system. Familiarity with highperformance computing environment such as GPU and cloud processing Good familiarity with computer programs such as Matlab, Python or IDL. Background knowledge of the problematics involved in Earth Observation modelling. A system viewpoint with the ability and willingness to assess the impact that each element brings to the overall mission performance. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
