Senior Engineer, Ground Platforms United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY As the Senior Engineer, Ground Platforms, you will be responsible for testing, and deploying of TDMA and SCPC satellite communications hubs and modems, supporting both GEO and MEO constellations. You will work collaboratively with our product owners, partner vendors, network architects, and operations team. You will be held to deliver the highest quality platforms to support our customers. You must be selfdriven and contribute significantly in a fastpaced environment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Validate HTS VSAT solution using iDirect Velocity Platform in support of SES Skala service offering Provide technical leadership for new MEO ground platform development Develop test plans to support the validation of MEO and GEO ground platforms to ensure they meet the technical, functional, performance, and business requirements Deploy ground systems in a lab environment, run test plans, and generate test reports Evaluate and recommend thirdparty test tools to aid with systems test efforts Drive technical defects and bug resolution with our partner vendors Create operations handover documentations that describes SES Networks specific configuration, commissioning procedure, troubleshooting guides, and CONOPs Deploy HUB software upgrades and major HUB configuration changes Provide technical support to our Service Reliability Engineering functional team Provide training and support as required to other technical staff Support a community of practice around the platform development across the company Publish thought leadership articles on the process, the delivery, the platform as it helps customers Willingness to embrace new ways of working Agile, BDD, SRE, DevOps COMPETENCIES High level design skills Ability to demonstrate technical leadership focusing on system integrity throughout the system lifecycle Strong analytical and problemsolving skills Excellent communication skills, both written, and oral Ability to work and deliver within a fastpaced working environment Ability to set priorities and work under deadlines Good teamwork spirit by working cohesively with the team towards a common goal QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE BSMA degree engineering, computer sciences, IT or similar 10 years of experience in VSAT platforms like iDirect, Comtech, Gilat, Newtech, or others 5 years of satellite RF communications systems 3 yeas of HTS satellite experience 5 years experience in IP protocols, TCP, UDP, RTP, routing protocols, and switching 5 years experience with designing service levels using QoS feature of VSAT platforms Strong knowledge of WAN optimization techniques including TCP acceleration, caching, and compression Basic experience with Unix system environment iDirect Certifications, andor, other industry certifications preferred MEO satellite experience is a plus Whats in it for you? Senior Engineer, Program Implementation Luxembourg Betzdorf Role description summary The Senior Engineer, Program Implementation contributes to the HTS System end to end project team in facilitating the implementation of HTS system end to end for the first GEO SES fully digital satellite SES17. The program implementation engineer shall ensure that the GEO infrastructure deployed is coherent with the MEO mPOWER infrastructure and can be used as a base for future SESNext infrastructure. You will support the program manager to ensure timely delivery and execution of HTS Ground System requirements. You will support the management of implementation of all work streams for HTS Ground System. You will work in interaction with key suppliers with ongoing development teleport antenna, platform and SDRM as well as in interaction with internal stakeholders to ensure IT infrastructure is timely developed. You will oversee and work collaboratively with SES supplier HNS Hughes Network System in Germantown, MD and partner closely with the SES team in Manassas, VA to ensure that the GEO platform development and implementation is compatible with future GEO and Medium Earth Orbit MEO infrastructure. You will interact with key suppliers including platform suppliers, ARC Adaptive Resource Control Satellite Dynamic Resource Managements as well with internal stakeholders. In addition, you will be responsible and accountable for the timely development, production, testing, and delivery of the SES17 HTS platform.
