We are currently looking for a Data Processing Systems and Applications Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Jason Data Processing Systems and Applications Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Processing Applications Engineering PAE Team, your tasks and responsibilities will include Support to JASON Ground Segments Support of the day to day operations and maintenance as well as the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures Provide support to the management of the technical interface with the external contractors for procurements and maintenance services provided externally Contribute to requirements specification, design and system engineeringreengineering, development and testing activities in the field of science data processing that will become necessary for existing and future production systems Contribute to the definition and design of architectures of data processing ground segments and their components, their interfaces, and the validation and verification methods Coordinationinputs to planning and preparation of releases as well as coordination with other EUMETSAT Teams andor contractor to prepare introduction of newupgraded components Provide on call support during special activities for limited periods of time as part of a team of maintenance engineers. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Engineering of large, UNIX or LINUX based, complex, realtime satellite data processing systems, including requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration Very good technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation CC programming Scripting languages e.g. PERL, shell Software build environments and tools e.g. IBM XL C and GCC compilers, make, automake, autoconf, RPM Configuration management processes and applications Source code control systems e.g. Subversion, Git Software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The specific nature of the fundamental physics experiments named Atomic Clock Esemble in Space ACES lies in operating atomic clocks in space and comparing them to ground atomic clocks.
