BACKGROUND Within the Ground Segment System Engineering GSSE Competence Area of the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division, the Ground Segment System Engineer will be responsible for coordinating system engineering activities aimed at maintaining and evolving ground systems for EUMETSAT and Copernicus missions exploited by EUMETSAT, including system engineering coordination with external partners. DUTIES Provide coordinated engineering support required to maintain operational ground systems and upgrade systems in response to evolving requirements, including maintenance of system level documentation and architectural models Analyse specifications and impacts on system architecture for evolutions or major upgrades to operational ground systems, in order to ensure overall systemscoherence Define the IVV testing approach for evolutions or major upgrades, and coordinateimplement testing, including support to the installation and integration of new components Support coordination with external partners e.g. ESA, European Commission, NOAA, ECMWF, MercatorOcean on ground segment engineering activities and interfaces Perform technology and trend analysis on enterprise architectures, emerging technologies and assess their implications for EUMETSAT and Copernicus missions and systems and interfaces with external partners Support the transition of newly developed ground segments into Operations at system level, including support to installation and integration, verification and validation testing. QUALIFICATIONS University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline LANGUAGES Candidates must be able to work effectively in English.
