Your Job The Spacecraft Controller is directly responsible to the Team Leader, Spacecraft Operations and is entrusted to monitor and control a number of spacecraft for the purpose of ensuring the safety of the assets providing the best performance to the customers and maximising the spacecraft lifetime. Heshe must be attentive to the operational status of the spacecraft and inquisitive regarding spacecraft data anomalies and be error free in actions concerning spacecraft commanding. Errors in either of the above areas can cause irreparable spacecraft damage and loss of corporate revenue through service outages. Heshe must therefore be sufficiently experienced and knowledgeable as a technologist to understand the functioning of the spacecraft and ground systems. In addition, maturity, reliability and tact are needed. During the majority of working hours heshe is without direct supervision being immediately available. Your Responsibilities Operate spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan. Strive to achieve and keep highest possible level of competency to perform all assigned duties and have the awareness to know when to escalate for assistance. Reliable and accurate execution of spacecraft operating procedures. Autonomous execution of manoeuvre burn plans. Continuously monitor spacecraft telemetry and alarm status. Respond to alarms or anomalous conditions by using good judgment, in particular by applying the process of analysing anomalous behaviours, identifying the cause, implementing and verifying the appropriate contingency procedure and if necessary by calling for additional support. Apply the principle of, TestasyouFly, FlyasyouTest in flight operations. Without hesitation, notify the AnalystEngineer, the appropriate SOC Team Leader or other oncall personnel of any event not covered in the plans or procedures. Originate spacecraft and equipment anomaly reports. Strive for accuracy in reporting the facts. Responsible for the operational configuration of the station TTC support path. Ensure that spacecraft telemetry and command capability is always available. Maintain the spacecraft operations logbook in concise and accurate manner. Perform special tests on behalf of engineering by approved procedure. Assist in the development of schedules, logs, forms, charts, graphs and other devices designed to provide thorough records of performance. Perform offline data analysis. Ensure that all displays for spacecraft operations are kept uptodate. Maximise transponder availability by effectively communicating operational problems to the Ground Operations and Network Operations personnel regarding spacecraft activities and performance. Operate ground station independently or in cooperation with responsible staff. Rotate shifts on 24hour duty, 7 days per week. Maintain a professional personal and workplace appearance. Maintain technical proficiency by periodically reviewing procedures and other spacecraft documentation. Execute procedures on the Dynamic Spacecraft Simulator. Attend regular training sessions in order to achieve and maintain an accreditation level to perform required functions. Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures. Perform other duties as required by Team Leader. The postholder will be primarily involved in ongoing operations of the PROBA Spacecraft and in the study and preparation phases for future missions of this type.
