Role SCISYS welcomes applications from experienced Software Project Managers to provide direction and commercial leadership within the Space division based in our Darmstadt office in Germany. We are looking for an ambitious, innovative and results driven Project Manager with a proven track record. Key responsibilities are To manage a project including people, equipment, facilities and subcontractors from initiation to close, to ensure that the project produces the required deliverables, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost. Contribute to estimation and contract or change control negotiations, as required, as well as identifying the skills, resources and tools needed for the project. Allocate tasks and roles to the project team with clear expectations in terms of outputs, schedule and effort whilst ensuring the team remain motivated for the work. Liaise with the customer regularly to ensure that their expectations are fulfilled or managed. Liaise with the Operations Manager to highlight any risks and to regularly discuss progress, alerting any exceptions and issues requiring action. Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary. Creation and maintenance of the project plan, as well as management and reporting documentation. Manage all software licenses and intellectual property rights within the project. Desired skills Demonstrating ownership for the management of both schedule and cost covering budget and risk mitigation strategies Proven project management skills covering planning, monitoring and control, change management and delivery. Experience of managing the whole software development lifecycle specification, design, development, integration, testing, delivery and maintenance Experience of managing concurrent projects and using different methodologies or price types e.g. waterfall vs agile, firm fix price vs time materials The ability to facilitate and improve process improvement through leadership and ownership. Customer relationship management. Team player and team leader The following would be an advantage Experience of interfacing with prime and subcontractors Experience of managing contracts with customers or partners in Europe A recognised Project Management Qualification Exposure to contractual issues e.g. review of contracts, contract change Understanding of software licenses and Intellectual Property Rights Understanding of the space industry and associated technologies may be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the role. About The Role We now have an exceptional opportunity for a talented Business Development Manager within BID to ensure the continued growth and success of the Harwell Space Cluster at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. The Harwell Space Cluster is a pillar of the rapidly growing Space sector in the UK and a key element of the UK strategy to increase its share of the rapidly expanding world space market to 40bn per annum by 2030. The strength of Harwell in Space is underpinned by the presence of key players at the campus ESAs European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications ECSAT STFCs longestablished RAL Space the Satellite Applications Catapult and the ESA Business Incubator Centre managed by STFC. Leading global space technology companies such as Airbus DS, Lockheed Martin, Thales Alenia Space and Elecnor Deimos, have established significant operations at Harwell. Overall, the Space Cluster at Harwell has grown from just 3 space related organisations 2010, to more than 75 currently, employing around 750 people. About one third of these represent foreign direct investment into the UK. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving the strategic and operational development of the Space Cluster, working closely with the Space Cluster inward investment team building on the synergies between space hardware and software companies upstream and those who offer spaceenabled applications and services downstream, to create a vibrant and growing cluster that encompasses the entirety of the space economy value chain developing and executing a strategy for attracting international companies into the Cluster, articulating an offer which is attractive to space and spaceenabled companies throughout the world, working closely with UK International Trade Investment and other partners in both government and private sector working to exploit the crossdisciplinary activities capabilities at the Harwell Campus for the benefit of the space community and others developing links between Harwell and other regional clusters around the UK, including the SciTech Campus at Daresbury and Edinburgh building links with the broad range of multidisciplinary activities in Oxfordshire that can potentially engage with the space sector and support the role of Oxfordshire in increasing the global competitiveness of the UK in High Tech business as a whole working with the STFC Harwell Campus Business Development Director, to manage the overall implementation of Campus strategic partnerships, programmes and events.
