CAE Inc. has struck a deal with U.S. aerospace and defence giant Lockheed Martin Corp. to acquire its commercial flight training unit. Montreal-based CAE, a leading flight crew trainer and simulator manufacturer, said on Monday the conditional agreement with Lockheed Martin will help expand its business for commercial flight simulators as well as result in the acquisition of assets such as full-flight simulators, simulator parts and equipment, facilities, technology and a skilled work force.

Southwest Airlines says a possible bird strike prompted pilots to return a flight to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport after takeoff. Southwest said in a statement Monday morning that Flight 484 took off for Rhode Island's T.F. Green Airport but returned safely.

Montreal-based CAE to buy Lockheed Martin's commercial flight training unit

The Montreal-based company didn't say what it expects to pay for Lockheed Martin Commercial Flight Training under a conditional agreement announced Monday. It also has training centres in 35 countries that are either directly owned by CAE or in partnership with other firms.
