For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Spacecraft Controller. Tasks and Responsibilities Operate on a 247 shift basis all or part of the mission control system, which includes parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment Assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations In case of ground or space segment anomaly take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingencyemergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure spacecraft safety and the continuity of service provision to users Participate in other operationsrelated activities small system development, procedures development or maintenance etc upon request of the Team Leader. Requirements Candidates should have a solid background in a technical or electronic environment, to the level of Senior Technician. A formal qualification to ONC or HNC would be advantageous. Ex service personnel should have completed a service College apprenticeship in electronicstelecommunications, and possess a background in Avionics, Air Defence, Air Radar or Communications. Alternatively the position is also open for graduates with a qualification in a related subject such as Aerospace Engineering, Satellite Communications, Telecommunications, Physics etc. Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required. Database knowledge would be useful. Candidates must be adaptable, selfdisciplined and able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress. The position requires working a shift rota candidates must be able to fit in well within a small operations team. In particular, the Spacecraft Controller will need to react to emergencies within approved guidelines and escalate appropriately when needed. The incumbent will also be required to follow regular training sessions and assessments. This is a 24 hour Shift position. Responsibilities Perform daily operations of spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan Command the spacecraft and monitoring satellite health Perform routine operations telemetry dumps, AOSLOS from the different ground stations, upload payload daily mission, eclipses, table uploads, etc. React to emergencies within approved guidelines and notify appropriate staff based on escalation procedure Perform offline data analysis Attend regular refresher training sessions in order to maintain a certification level required to perform functions via regular assessment Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures Interface with the Network Operation Center.
