Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities The successful post holder will provide support to the operations preparation of the MTG programme from a system wide and ground stations perspective and the subsequent bringing of it into routine operations. The Contractor will also provide services to the routine operations phases of the existing MSG and EPS programmes. The key person will provide services to the RSO division but shall initially provide services to the PRD department for the development and operations preparation of the MTG Programme focussing on system and ground station aspects, ensuring they are brought to a suitable level for the transition of the programme into routine operations. The support comprises a range of tasks across a number of different departments within EUMETSAT so the Key Person will need a broad knowledge of operational ground segments and how the ground stations fit into the general scheme. The ideal candidate shall also contribute to the routine operations of the existing MSG and EPS ground stations, as well as their future evolutions. The Key Person will perform the following tasks System and Ground segment operations preparation activities Review documentation and attend formal reviews Defining and performing Ground Station Operational Scenario Validation OSV and Operational Rehearsal activities for future programmes Definition and maintenance of operations procedures manual and automated, displays, databases and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Day to day operations of current and future ground stations including daytoday planning, monitoring and first line anomaly investigations Processing and coordination of system and ground segment anomalies in particular but not limited to ground stations , their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Analysis of ground station obsolescence, and upgrade paths within a 247 operations environment Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations and Engineering Teams. Ideal candidate In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent work experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least two years experience in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least two years experience in the routine operations of large and complex ground stations preferably in an earth observation environment experience of the preparation and use of operational procedures, databases, displays and documentation. Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience of document management and configuration control processes experience of development and upgrades within a 247 operations environment experience in defining user interfaces for operations HMI, reports, etc. experience in the configuration andor use of Space Link Extension SLE experience in the use of Dataminer. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Position Reference 851 You will provide engineering expertise to the EPSSG Operation Preparation Integrated Team OPIT in the LEO Division. The activities will include general operation preparation aspects but will focus on the end to end system operations. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Responsible for the definition of the overall Operations Validation Plan OVP. Implement and coordinate the OVP for the validation of the operational scenarios and support the SIM Officer during the simulation campaigns. Coordinate with IVV team to deliver as necessary validated operational scenarios for VV test cases. Develop and validate the end to end System Operation Procedures and Timelines for routine and contingency operations in coordination with satellite and system operations engineers. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You have a demonstrated experience of at least five years in the field of Spacecraft Operations. You have good system knowledge of the main functional elements of a ground system which are used for the monitoring and control of a satellite. You have experience in spacecraft monitor and control operations on SCOS based system. You have experience in definition, development and validation of operations for the development of satellite ground segment facilities such as monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, ground stations monitoring. You have relevant experience on configuration management of operational systems. You have demonstrated experience in a similar key role for the validation and readiness status of specific operation preparation phases such as SSVT, validation campaigns or rehearsals. You have experience in Operation Procedures development life cycle and Operation Preparation environment and configuration management for operational systems. You have Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements and external operational interfaces management. You are fluent in English, possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and are confident to deal with a wide variety of people. You have good interpersonal skills to coordinate with team leaders and key stakeholders as well as in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You perform effectively under high workloads and are able to adapt to a rapidlychanging timecritical environment. You are able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen. For our activities at EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking to employ highly motivated and enthusiastic EPSSG Operations Preparation Engineer to work in an exciting innovative international environment. The EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with respectively a launch readiness by 2021 for the first satellite and by 2022 for the second satellite. Recurrent satellites will be provided and launched in order to achieve a minimum of 21 years of operations. The main objective of the Operation Preparation activities is to deliver a system ready for routine operations together with a qualified operations team. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The activities will cover Operations Preparation for multisatellite operations and coordination tasks focusing on onboard software OBSW tools and end to end procedures. The end to end OBSW responsibility will also encompass the coordination of the development of the satellite operation procedures. The tasks and responsibilities will typically include the following Manage the OBSW images delivered to EUM and maintain adequate configuration of the OBSW tool in coordination with the Ops Prep satellite team. MTG Operations Preparation and LEOP Engineer

Help us to prepare and support the operations preparations activities for our Meteosat Third Generation MTG satellites. The Role This is an outstanding opportunity to become involved in one of our most exciting and important future missions. In this role you will be the technical lead for the System Validation Tests involving the different modes of satellites and both our and the LEOP service providers Control Centres. You will also coordinate the coengineering of the satellite operations preparation in readiness for our partners to prepare and launch our MTG satellites.
