The key person will support the activities in the Ground Technology and Products Section in the Telecommunication Satellite Domain. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Coordinate the initiation of activities related to technology and product design and development for the telecommunication ground segment. Evaluation, negotiation, monitoring and control of contracts and activities related to technology and product development for satellite telecommunication ground segments. Monitor market and technology trends and developments in the area of satellite communication ground segments. Provide input for the Department Business Intelligence management System. Support TIA Communication activities in line with the ESA TIA Communication Policy rules. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering. minimum 7 years of industry experience in the design and development of satellite telecommunications user or ground segment products and technologies. Exprience in satcom ground segment architectures for broadcasting, broadband, trunking, backhauling and mobile applications. Experience in the definition and implementation of ground solutions for satcom mobile systems You have an expertise in some or all of the following areas Terminal modem design FPGA and ASIC. Communication protocols including quality of service aspects, upper layer techniques in IP and networking, air interface techniques. For our customer, DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, we are seeking a Ground Segment Operations Engineer to support the Galileo Operations Project. Responsibilities The general activities are The Ground Operations Team is responsible for the overall management of Galileo GCS Operations at both GCCD and GCCI sites and the execution of GCS prime operations and GMS backup operations at GCCD, including activities related to encryption keys management. GMS backup operations is complemented with backup TSP and prime GRSP operations support. The scope of this work package is to fulfill the tasks of the Ground Operations engineer within the GSOp phase. This includes activities related to Ground Operations preparation, planning, executionsupport including oncall and shift duty or operations development as well as training. The scope of activities includes regular trips to GCCI and interface with other operations teams or DLR GfR customers. As part of the Ground Operations Team, the Ground Operations engineer contributes to the regular reporting, support milestones defined by the project and to internalexternal servicesactivities as defined by the Ground Operations and Ground Engineering Managers. This is a fulltime position to be located at DLRs premises in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, with the planned start date being midApril 2021 or ASAP thereafter. Position Reference 804 We are currently looking for a Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS Deployment Engineer to work at our client premises in the Galileo Control Centre GCC located Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Assess the operational impact of segment anomalies raised as SPRs, NCRs and ARs. Follow up the closure of GCS related anomalies as part of the Anomaly Review Boards and Nonconformance Review Boards, both at segment level internal and resulting from systemOPS activities external, ensuring that critical issues are solved with maximum priority and any Workarounds are duly qualified. Support the planning and preparation of the deployment, and OPE migration activities through review of the associated deployment migration plans and CCRs. Provide duly comments in relation to the review schedules, follow up the timely execution of the activities and report on the progress. Support the planning of GCS Delivery Review Boards DRB and their associated test campaigns. Support the preparation of and follow up the daytoday GCS AIV activities at GCCD liaising with the ESA GCS AIV Manager, WP3X industry and WP1X industry. Review of AIV documentation RVM, Test Cases, Test Procedures, Test reports etc, especially those related to Site AIV activities and provide duly comments in line with the review schedules. This includes attendance of TRRs, witnessing of test execution, review of test results and follow up the timely delivery of test logs from GSAGSOp to the data processing teams. Participation to the Mid Term Planning Meetings MTPs for VAL and OPE, and Change Control Boards CCBs. The CCBs include ESA System Exploitation CCBs and GSOp GCS CCBs. Support the development of evolutions related to operational improvements through participation in working groupsworkshops. Support the resolution of ILS and obsolescence issues impacting operations at the control centre. Liaise with the ESA Project Office in ESTEC on both urgent and daytoday matters potentially affecting the Galileo service continuity or limiting OPS capabilities. Support the GCS Operators in their operational validation tasks, liaising with the technical experts in ESTEC and Industry and ensuring the operability of the delivered infrastructure Participate, as requested, in Galileorelated reviews and technical evaluation boards, in particular contributing to GCS qualification reviews, intermediate reviews, system and operations reviews. In case needed, provide support also to deployment and AIV activities in relation to the Galileo Ground Mission Segment GMS. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science. Knowledge and experience of the Satellite Control and Monitoring Systems and Flight Dynamics Systems including its operations, architecture and implementation. Knowledge of IT technology including virtualization and networks. Knowledge of the development, test and verification as well as deployment of ground segments. Autonomy in writing minutes of meetings, technical notes, specifications and reports. Good interpersonal skills and team spirit. Previous working experience in a multinational environment. Good knowledge of MS office tools. Excellent organizational skills, good practical sense, being able to work effectively in a team and be able to work autonomously in the field of responsibility. Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe. Experience in procurement of industrial activities. Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
