Telstra launches unlimited data plan for smartphone users

(Telecompaper) Australian operator Telstra has introduced its first smartphone plan with unlimited data. Starting 3 May, the Telstra Endless Data BYO plan will be available for AUD 69 per month. The plan includes unlimited data, including 40GB of data traffic at uncapped speeds followed by access capped at 1.5Mbps for the remainder of the month. The Endless Data BYO plan is for personal use on a smartphone only.

(Telecompaper) Australian operator Telstra announced it has turned on the first precinct of 5G-enabled Wi-Fi hotspots, allowing Gold Coast locals and visitors to access free broadband while Telstra evaluates 5G services. Telstra is using the connectivity via its recently opened 5G Innovation Centre on the Gold Coast to power a series of Wi-Fi hotspots on Scarborough and Nerang Streets in Southport as well as a 5G connected car.

News Corp, Telstra reach agreement on Foxtel and Fox Sports merger

(Telecompaper) News Corp and Australian operator Telstra announced a definitive agreement to combine the Foxtel and Fox Sports Australia pay-TV platforms. As first announced in the preliminary agreement reached last August, News Corp will have a 65 percent stake in the combined entity and Telstra will own 35 percent.
