Disney+ expected to reach 101 million subscribers

Five global platforms will have 529 million SVOD subscribers by 2025. According to Digital TV Research, these five global platforms will add 257 million subscribers between 2019 and 2025 doubling their total.

(Telecompaper) It was a busy week in media, but the Telecompaper Global Media stock index nonetheless closed week 43 nearly unchanged (+0.1%). There was one big winner (NENT Group) and one big loser (Twitter). ProSieben attracted a new large shareholder, Walt Disney closed a major distribution agreement with Verizon and the NENT group teamed up with Telenor. Year-to-date, Snap Inc. still leads our index with a more than 150 percent gain. ComScore did well last week (+7.7%), but is still 86 percent below its closing price at the end of 2018.

Verizon to give customers 12 months of Disney+

Verizon and The Walt Disney Company have announced an agreement that will offer all Verizon wireless unlimited customers, new Fios Home Internet and 5G Home Internet customers 12 months of Disney+. The agreement will provide another reason for customers to choose Verizon.

Verizon to offer 12 months free Disney+ at launch

(Telecompaper) Verizon announced a deal with the Walt Disney Company to offer Disney+ free for 12 months to Verizon customers. Verizon mobile customers on an unlimited plan, new Fios Home Internet and 5G Home Internet customers will gain access to the streaming video service when it launches 12 November.

(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper Stock Index Global Media ended week 42 up 1.2 percent, beating the S&P 500 (+0.5%). Broadcasters in the US (Meredith, +7.3%), the UK (ITV, +6.3%) and Australia (Seven West, +5.5%) led our basket. Lions Gate and comScore (-11% both) closed the ranks. Netflix (-2.7% for the week) presented rather strong quarterly results. Investors initially responded positively, but by the end of the week the stock was down 2.7 percent from the week before.
