Within RSP Remote Sensing and Products Division, the key person will support the team of the Atmospheric and Imaging Applications AIA in the group responsible for the scientific AMV product development and implementation. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Algorithm software anomaly investigation and correction Design and implementation of algorithm enhancements or improvements Software feasibility analyses of proposed new product algorithms, or major algorithm upgrades Development of tools in support of product monitoring and product analysis, for example as part of EPS PPF product validation testing Preparation of technical documents on product implementation issues Preparation of technical notes and reports as required Attendance at technical and RSPAIA team meetings as required The focus of these tasks will primarily be on the AMV products extracted from both geostationary and polar orbit systems however, there may tasks related to other products for which the work of the key person may be partially allocated. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects, the Key person shall have a minimum of four years experience of processing satellite or meteorological data. Specifically the Key person shall have Proven experience in the design, implementation, and testing of complex scientific algorithm software Proven experience of software development in C, C and Fortran in a UNIX environment Proven experience in software development using data visualisation and analysis tools e.g. PYTHON, IDL Experience in configuration control of software and data Sound knowledge and experience in the area of Atmospheric Motion Vectors extraction from satellite imagery, or experience with image processing algorithms in the area of feature identification and tracking, or experience with optical flow methods would be a distinct advantage. Another distinct advantage would be experience in operational data processing. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. The key person will support the TSS Technical and Scientific Support Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division. The key person will provide hisher prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and heshe will support Maintenance of the EUMETSAT CopernicusSentinel3 Mission Control Applications and MMEMon tools instantiation for Sentinel3 Requirements specification, design, development implementation, integration and verification of extensions including future obsolesces reengineering of Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Support to users in investigation andor handling in the operational usage of the Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Provide MCAT with strong software technologies expertise in the area of web applications The tasks of the key person will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Engineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions as following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance of test plan and test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test plan and related test procedures at software level and at level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation in technical reviews, participation in factory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical Assessment and Review acting as technical experts heshe will support the coordination, assessment and review process for engineering artefacts and technical documentation produced in the scope of maintenance activities. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure if specifically required operations continuity during critical periods by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software applications requirements definition, design, implementation, verification and maintenance. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Software Engineering Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes Experience minimum 5 years definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 247 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. Software Technologies Skills Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implementing backend software applications using Servlet containers e.g. Tomcat, JBoss and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies javascript, CSS, HTML and javascript frameworks Experience minimum 2 years in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented Middleware and using ActiveMQ andor ZeroMQ as message brokers Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS.
