In addition to its recent partnership with GIE Media, SPI secured publication partnerships for Re|focus with Plastics News, Plastics Technology, El Empaque + Conversión magazine, and Tecnología del Plástico magazine. Representing nation’s third largest manufacturing sector, SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, released a slate of newly elected board members to include Chairman-elect James Murphy, president and CEO of Davis-Standard LLC, located in Pawcatuck, CT. Murphy, who served as chairman of NPE2015, has held leadership roles in sales and engineering management during his 25-year career at Davis-Standard. His term as SPI Board chairman runs through December 2017.

In its "Plastics Market Watch: Healthcare & Medical Devices" report, SPI discusses advances in plastics that enabled said material to displace traditional medical devices made of other substances. Report uses healthcare's dependency on plastics and draws on multi-generational marketing expert Ken Gronbach's work to explain future market and its driving population. "The growth of the medical device market is almost synonymous with rising demand for plastics,” said SPI's William R. Carteaux.

SPI unveiled its new modernized NPE logo and announced its new tagline, "The Plastics Show," for NPE. Updated to better align with innovative nature of NPE, logo features modern colors and updated creative elements while remaining true to brand-recognized globe and banner aspect. According to SPI President and CEO William Carteaux, these changes align with continuing to attract more end markets so that they better understand material of plastics and its applications.
